Meet the founders

Built by students who wanted to emphasize creativity in career exploration

We are Jada Lin and Olivia Zheng, sophomores and DECA student leaders at Great Neck South High School. We created Career Canvas to help younger students try relevant business skills and create actual impact in our community.

Who we are

Two students behind the canvas

Our competition, leadership, tutoring, and entrepreneurship experiences shaped a program where students learn by making something useful.

Why we started

Students should get to try a career before they have to choose one

Our five-part program gives students a real audience and a finished body of work.

  1. DiscoverExplore career, DECA, and digital marketing strengths.
  2. Work with a real businessResearch a local partner and understand its audience.
  3. Create and buildDesign an advertisement and turn industry knowledge into a playable quiz.
  4. ShowcaseCollect the finished work in a portfolio and résumé.

The Career Canvas pilot

Starting at Great Neck South Middle School
Ready to grow

This is a student-led pilot designed with middle school students and local businesses in mind. We are documenting what works so Career Canvas can support more classrooms, partners, and young creators.
